Root (2018) is an asymmetric area-control wargame for 2-4 players set in a whimsical forest, playing in 60-90 minutes. Each faction—such as the dominant Marquise de Cat, the rebellious Eyrie Dynasties, and the guerrilla Woodland Alliance—has completely unique rules, victory conditions, and playstyles that interact to create a dynamic political ecosystem. Its accessible art conceals deep strategic asymmetry that demands players understand both their own faction's engine and how to disrupt their opponents'.
